The point is showing the care. In ways you usually let slip past. Do something spontaneous and romantic to show your guy you appreciate him. You know, cook him dinner. Take him out somewhere.
Do you know of a dish that's relatively easy? I'm slightly too good at burning food, but I can look in the library if you've any recommendations.
I realize I'm putting quite a lot on you at the last moment, and for that I apologize. In my partial defense, I didn't know another holiday for your worlds was coming up quite this soon.
Well, if it's any consolation, this is the last one for a while. Well ... unless you count Easter, but that one's not so big unless you reeeeeaaally like rabbits. Or ... Organized religion, I guess. [ verbal shrug. anyway. ] I've got some recipes you can try. Everybody loves lasagna, and that's preeeetty hard to screw up.
[His voice is dryly amused.] The building I destroyed? Chantry. A building for our organized religion. I think we can count me as not a fan. And thankfully he doesn't strike me as the type either.
[But then Anders' voice goes back to appreciative.] Thank you. Shall I drop by?
Mmmmiiight not be the best. I've gotta hit the pavement to look around for Willow, may as well swing by yours while I do. Things here have been ... uh, tense.
[And then to seriousness. He'd sort-of washed his hands clean when Willow had ended the feed, but this brings him back to the issue.]
...Take care with this, Buffy. A mage who has decided that there is no limit and that they need not pay any price for great power is a mage who can and will strike down any who get in their way.
Better for you that she learn it the hard way when it backfires, in a place where she's more than likely to come back to life. But you're the hero type. [It's a statement of fact, there's no scorn to it.] You won't do that.
[Anders sighs.] Swing by with them, please, but call me if you wind up in need. Sometimes the best way to fight a mage is with a mage, and while I can't make her sleep, I can freeze someone for a time, and not the ice sort of freezing. Sometimes a few moments of them being still is all you need.
[ she's grateful that anders understands why she can't let that happen, and that he doesn't begrudge her it. she's had too many people try to stubbornly fight against her doing the right thing here, to have someone accept it for once is ... well, it's why he's her best friend.
there's a pause as she considers his offer. ]
If you freeze her. The non-icy kind. Would we be able to talk to her?
She'll hear you. She won't be able to talk back. And it's a short time, Buffy, depending on her strength. With the lightning she had, I'd say two minutes. I've held others for longer, but I'd prefer to estimate on the cautious side. [There's a long pause as he struggles against his own conscience on the other option he can suggest.] It's... I...
[The sigh is heavier this time and Anders' voice is troubled.] There's also enough time to... to restrain her. I swore I'd not help someone restrain a mage. But you're acting out of friendship. I can hold her still while... And then you can talk. If you need to take that route.
[ buffy doesn't want to think about it. she hates that she has to. she hates that it's coming to this, but she doesn't know how else to help. they've tried everything. everything, to help her. but she doesn't want it. she'd rather keep sinking deeper into this.
so she decides not to say anything, though it's heavy in her mind. ]

I'll be right over with the recipe.
